Analysis of film done as per the following :
- Story structure ( Set up, inciting incident and climax and resolution): Story structure is the basic skeleton of the story in which muscles, blood vessels, and other parts are added to bring life to the story in a script format. As always keeping the structure in mind and writing stories may end up with the reduction of flexibility in writing. Hence the structure could be used as a checking material after writing stories. Set up: first few minutes of the film which would describe the time and place where the story is happening and also reveal the characters to an extent so that they push the story to inciting incident or plot point 1(as per syd field)
- The relevance of linear or nonlinear story structure according to the story as a whole. Linear or Non-linear story telling are the methods in which story is being told. Linear is the straight method of story telling which starts with setting up then moves to inciting incident and then climax confrontation eventually to the end resolution. But Non- linear method of conveying a film doesn't follow the structure straight but contains the structure within it. For example Citizen Kane, Rang de Basanti, Blue jasmine etc.
- The theme of the story: Why this film is made? is the main question which is answered in the theme of the story. For example, Apocalypse now has the theme " there is a good and evil in every human and always there is a conflict between them" this theme is being shown throughout in all the scenes taken in the film that makes the film outstanding.
- Mise en scene used in films and its relevance: Usually this term is used in plays to put together every aspect inside the scene such as prop, composition, lighting, actors, costumes etc. But there is another aspect to the mise en scene where it is referred to multiple scenes in a single scene. For example:
( scene from Citizen Kane)
- Character Analysis with the character arc of the film
- Different types of conflicts in the film: Conflicts are necessary for the film to make it interesting. As how much knots the conflicts have in the film will make it as much interesting. But the challenging part is to solve the conflicts. It is believed that an interesting film will always either have a conflict or resolution or an extension of a conflict. Types of conflicts: 1.
